Only those who qualify may participate in this very prestigious state scholastic tournament.
The top 3 teams and individual in each section from each of the 4 regional tournaments will be eligible to participate in the FAST. Thus if you place 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in your section at any one of the four regional qualifiers, you will be eligible to participate in the2011 FAST. Also, if you are on a school team which places 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in its section, your school will receive an invitation. Your school designates who shall represent its team. Schools can send up to 5 players (but only up to 4 boards count towards the team’s score).
The top 4 teams and individuals from each of the OPEN SECTIONS of the SUPERSTATE VIII Scholastic Chess Championship who has not previously qualified will be eligible to participate in the FAST. As we examine the top four teams and individuals, we will pass over already qualified teams and individuals. This means that your team could come in 5th, etc., but might be still eligible to participate in the FAST because a team above yours may have already qualified at one of the 4 regional tournaments. This system will also be used for determining individual eligibility.
Florida scholastic top 100’s players appearing in the United States Chess Federation for the month of April 2011 are eligible to participate in the 2011 FAST.
The F.A.S.T is the Florida All Stars Tournament is organized by the FSCL and sanctioned by the FCA.
